Yesterday was my last day of work.
I will miss the library, but working almost every evening and every weekend was really starting to wear down my family. We were never able to do anything as a family because I always had to work. I made some really good friends while I was there and will miss getting to see them, but I still plan to visit the library as a patron and I'm even joining one of the book clubs. I'm also going to have to say that my boss there was one of the best bosses I have ever had. She was easy to work for, very flexible, and, most importantly, a genuinely nice person. Thanks, Donna, for being so easy to work for.
Although this will slow down our debt reduction (we are following Dave Ramsey and I highly recommend it), our family will be better off.
What am I going to do now? I'm going to volunteer at the school for my girls' teachers and I am going to have more time to devote to the blog. I also will be able to have more time to for my family, cooking meals and just general house upkeep that falls behind. I have a lot of home projects that have been put off so now I may get them done. I'm also going to start trying to get a bit more exercise in to my day to help with my weight loss efforts. My craft business also kind of fell to the side between the blog and work so I hope to have a lot more time for it. I already have several orders in for the barrettes I make and I am also starting to sell a bit of stuff I have made with my Silhouette Cameo.
I will most likely begin having ads on the sidebar of the blog to help support its upkeep. I will continue to do the occasional review for Social Spark or my newest sponsor The Clever Girls Network. I will not feature just anything that comes along, I will still try to make sure it has something to do with the blog. Any reviews that I am paid for or given the product to review will be clearly stated, you can review my disclosure page for more information. I will also continue to keep this blog family friendly. Don't be surprised if you see a few more personal posts now and then. I plan to do a slow makeover on myself, too. Th Link Parties page will disappear as I transition this month to linking at the bottom of each post, directly to the party I've linked to. It is better for me and for the blogger hosting the link party.
Also, after some confusion of what pictures in my post may be featured by another blogger (regardless of whether I have linked to their party), I have updated my permissions on its own page here as well as on my sidebar. I've also added a few preventative steps to try to keep the girls' pictures from leaving Snickety Things. I love when I am featured, but I do feel the pictures of my girls belong to me.
I've updated our About Us page to reflect the changes and even put up some more current pictures. My new picture is still a couple of years old, it was taken at my 20 year high school reunion back in 2010.
What kind of changes are you going through this year?
