Labeling school supplies

Last week I showed you the bags of school supplies I'm packing up for the girls (and how I saved money on them).  We are still getting ready for school to start here.  Tomorrow I take Boo to the school to get her registered for kindergarten.  Last week she went to Kindergarten Jumpstart, which allowed her to get a little taste of what school will be like.  I think she ad a lot of fun.  The Princess and I spent that morning getting just a few more things ready for school.  I had to get her some more uniform bottoms because she outgrew the ones she used last year.  It was too much to hope that she didn't go through a growth spurt.

The time I wasn't at work or spending time with the girls I was still getting familiar with my Silhouette Cameo.  I bought two binder bags from Walmart for a $1 each and cut their names out of some white vinyl and applied it to the window.

The font I used is Boingo.  We were having a play date that day and my friend watched me cut it out with the Cameo.  Watching it be cut was a lot more fun than watching me weed around all of those little swirls.  I think they turned out really cute.

Here is a close up of the pink bag.

Now the girls want me to label all of their supplies.  I think I might have to pick a different font, one that is a little easier to weed.

And, now you know who Boo and the Princess are.

How do you label school supplies?

  1. That's a super cute idea. We don't go back to school until after Labor Day so I am not even remotely thinking about it yet. But when the time comes, I think I'll use my Silhouette to do something similar. It's a great idea. Thanks for the inspiration.

    1. Thanks! I just made some more to dress up the composition notebooks they have to take. It takes a while to weed out little letters. Whew.

  3. I would love to try out a Silhouette. It appears to have so many more options than my Cricut! I would love to label things all over my classroom with this!! One year I wrote my kid's names on every crayon with a sharpie! That took forever!

    1. I wrote just my girls names on some crayons and it took forever. I can't imagine how long it would take to do a whole class of kids.

  4. Fancy-I am pretty much all about plain and boring permanent marker.

    1. I did some others with the vinyl as a stencil and a sharpie. I was afraid the vinyl would come off.

  5. These are so cute! I need to do this for my kids. I host a themed party each week and this week's theme is Back To School. It's called Gimme Five For Friday and this would be perfect for the party! If you remember, you should come by on Friday and join in!

    1. No problem. It drives me crazy when I can't find the name of a font.
