My nemesis (and my first review and giveaway #EclosBeauty)

This post brought to you by éclos Skin Care. All opinions are 100% mine.
Do you have a nemesis?  Come on, admit it.  You know you have one.  I have several, want to guess which one I am talking about today?

The bathroom scale?

This is one I hope to conquer soon, but not today's topic.

Spiders?

One of my top issues of my house is the large number of grass spiders larger than a quarter that I kill in a week.  Talking double digits!  (In fact the one pictured above only lived for about ten seconds after I took the picture.)  See that little glow on it?  Does that mean it was posing for the picture?  Is it the flash reflecting off its little fangs?  shiver Still not today's topic. whew

Those were all really good guesses, but I think it is one you may not know about.

Yep, that is the one.  I'm about to hit 40.  It isn't really the number (yes it is) but the stuff that goes along with the number (that, too).  See, I'm starting to get enough gray hair that people are no longer confusing it for a blond streak and I started to notice was wrinkles around my eyes.  Most aren't very noticeable because the fat fills them out they are still faint and shallow.

I've never really thought about wrinkles and honestly I barely glance at the cremes they sell in stores.  But since I did notice the wrinkles starting to form I thought I might need to start thinking about them.  After all, I am on the weight loss road and that fat won't be there forever.

When I look at anything I put on my face I have to really study every ingredient it contains.  You see, I have extremely sensitive skin that peels with most products on shelves now.  If it has a sulfate in it, there is no way I can even think of using it and not have some kind of side effect.  Even my hair brushing my face can cause problems depending on my shampoo.

Enter éclos Skin Care.

I was contacted a couple of weeks ago to see if I was interested in reviewing their Anti-Aging Skin Care Starter Kit.  First I was thinking that even strangers thought I was looking old, then I realized it was probably just a coincidence.  I researched the product online to see if it was something I would even want to try.

What I kept seeing was that it contained no sulfates, a big thing for me.  Also missing from the ingredients are synthetic fragrances, petro-chemicals, synthetic dyes and parabens.  All things that are problems for those with sensitive skin.
What it does contain is something they call PhytoPlex24, a combination of plant extracts, vitamins and anti-oxidants.  The big thing it contains is stem cells from a rare Swiss apple.  These cells stimulate your skins own stem cells to act like younger skin.
They claim their results are clinically proven to reduce wrinkles:
  • 100% of women showing fewer wrinkles after two weeks of use
  • Skin’s collagen matrix and elastin fibroblasts can look up to 15 years younger

I gave my review thumbs up and they sent me a kit to try.

My kit contained seven different things.  Here they are along with my experiences with each.

Facial Cleanser Skin Prep
This is the first step I took morning and night.  It is supposed to prep the skin by removing make up and other impurities.  It felt really refreshing and left my skin feeling clean.  It rinsed off pretty well and didn't leave a residue on my face.

Instant Radiance Facial Scrub
The next step I took was the scrub.  It is only meant to be done every other day and is supposed to kick off skin renewal and remove the dry, dull skin.  When I used this one the first time it made my face really red.  I'm guessing it was more because it was an abrasive than anything in it.  The subsequent times I used it the redness was not as bad.  After use it left my skin really smooth.  Because of the redness and my skin sensitivity, I'm not sure if I could really use this as often as the recommend.  Someone used to this type of scrub may have better results.

Skin Renewal Clay Mask
This one is supposed to tighten pores and absorb impurities and is meant to be used twice a week.  As the clay dried I could feel it tightening up my skin.  I only had a bit of trouble rinsing this off and ended up using a wash cloth to get it all.

Cellular Activator Face Serum
This one is supposed to be done morning and night to regenerate skin cells, rehabilitate aging skin and prevent future damage.  I really loved how this one felt when I was putting it on although it felt a bit sticky as it soaked in.  I quickly realized you only need a small amount for full coverage and that was much less sticky.  Afterwards it left no residue.

Moisture Therapy Regenerative Cream
Put on morning and night this one is supposed to brighten dull skin and reduce lines an wrinkles.  This one went on very smoothly but it seemed to leave a greasy residue.  Then I realized, as with the face serum, I was using too much. I didn't need a lot for good coverage.  I really liked how it felt on my skin after it soaked in and I think it also gave me a good base for putting on my make-up.

Restorative Eye Cream
This one, put on last morning and night, is supposed to firm up delicate skin around the eyes and reduce fine lines and wrinkles.  I think this was the one that helped me most since my wrinkles were mostly showing up around my eyes.  It also helped with the bags that formed when I was tired.

They also include an éclos Terry Cloth Head Band to use while doing the routine.

What were my results?  Here are those pesky wrinkles I was talking about before and after with one week of use:

You know, it is more difficult than you think to get a picture of your own eye.  See those wrinkles in the top picture?  They were nearly gone in the bottom.  I was very impressed.  All of the fine lines around my eyes were gone and the deeper lines looked much better.  A few friends commented that I looked different so I had to tell them why.  I also liked how much more smooth my skin felt overall.  And, I know there is a skin color difference between the two, I was just coming out of a light sunburn in the first picture.  Sadly, that after picture is really how pale I am.
The only thing I wish it also did was help control acne.  I did end up getting a few pimples (part of my skin sensitivity issues) but since they were in the areas where I always get them I can't attribute them to the éclos products.  In fact, other products have caused me to have serious breakouts after one use.

Want even better news?  I have an éclos starter kit to give away to one of you!  This giveaway is limited to US residents only.
