As you can see, I really didn't worry at the time if my cupcakes were all the same size. I did these when I was still pretty new to decorating and saw the opportunity to practice figure piping.
I made standard sized cupcakes and iced them all white. I set a little of the white aside and tinted the rest of the icing in what I considered to be Care bear colors. I used the Wilton gel colors in pink, cornflower blue, lemon yellow, kelly green and violet (I only used a small amount for those last two so the would remain pastel).
I used a Wilton #5 tip to make the base of the head, holding the bag straight up and piping out a large bead. I did the same with a Wilton #3 for ears in the same color, then switched to white and used the #3 for the muzzle and the white in the ears. The nose was a Wilton #2 that I tried to make into a heart by squeezing out adjacent shell shapes. I tinted a very small amount black and used a Wilton #1 tip to make the eyes.
They look a little rough but they made my niece happy. Here are some close up shots of each color.
This weekend I am making my the Princess a cake for her 7th birthday. She wants one that is a Tangled theme and I have no idea what I am going to do. This is the first cake I think I have waited this late to even really think about. I guess since we are not having a big party I haven't thought much about it. Wish me luck and I will be back with pictures.
